Hire a CIEP Intern
The CIEP internships connect educated, enthusiastic young people with the co-operative sector. Our interns emerge with valuable work experience, new skills, and a wealth of knowledge on the co-operative model. In other words, they emerge as ideal employees for co-operatives around the province and across the sector. On this page, you will find information on interns who are nearing completion or have recently completed the Co-operative Internship & Experience Program.

Jeremy Wittet
Ontario Co-operative Association, Public Affairs and Government Relations Intern
Background: Bachelor of Arts, Political Science, University of Western Ontario
Host Employer: Ontario Co-operative Association (Public Affairs /Government Relations)
My experiences with On Co-op in the government relations portfolio have been exciting and challenging at the same time. Mostly due to the lack of education in which many legislators have in the area of co-operatives. Over the first part of my internship I have learned a great deal about the co-operative business model, its core values and its impact on community with its triple bottom line approach.
My personal areas of interest are politics and governance. I am looking to have a career in government relations, legislative affairs and eventually earning the opportunity of representing my community in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a member of provincial parliament. I have previously worked for both an MP and MPP, and these opportunities have provided me with a solid understanding of how government works and what we can do to influence it.
Jenna Jutzi
OXXX Intern
Hello fellow Co-opers! My name is Jenna Jutzi. I had my first opportunity to work in a Co-operative with the Co-operative Internship and Experience Program. I am a recent graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Speech Communications program. The only program like it in Canada, Speech Communications offered theoretical and a “hands on” learning approach. My program focused on leadership, team dynamics and communication in the workplace.
This education has led to an excellent fit in my current position as Community Development Intern at Country Hills Housing Co-operative. At my position thus far I have coordinated a community garden, planned barbecues, planned events for the children in the co-op, and helped with the day to day administration work in the office. Currently, I am working on getting a resume and a cover letter workshop set up in the co-op, and am planning a summer party.
In addition to having my eyes opened about the Co-operative business world, in my time at this position I have learned that as an advocate for community building you must keep pushing (even though it may seem that change is not occurring). I also learned not be afraid to get your hands dirty. Once members see you working hard they are more likely to join in. After my internship ends I would like to go into public relations.
