Apply for Membership

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Member, Supporter or Friend of On Co-op. We appreciate your support. To apply for membership in On Co-op, simply follow these steps.

TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ON CO-OP

  1. Read the membership information the Membership Benefits and Discounts page. Download the 'Membership Categories and Benefits Summary' from the "Related Documents" section at the top right of this page. If you want more information on member benefits, duties and obligations, please contact the Membership Manager at the co-ordinates below.
  2. Download the On Co-op membership application from the “Related Documents” section at the top right of this page. The form may be filled in electronically or by hand.
  3. Fill in the application and scan/email or mail it to the address printed on the form. Please remember to...
  • Include your organizational biography (75 words or less). This is used provided to the board for their consideration of your membership application, and displayed on the e-directory.
  • Enclose a brochure or other information on your organization, if you wish. The more we know about your co-op, the better we can help promote you, your programs/products and your sector.
  • Indicate which committees, working groups or task forces you (and/or others in your organization) would like to take part in.  Review the committee information form, make your selections, and return it with your application.
  • Include a copy of your most recent audited financial statements and/or annual report.
  • If you are a federation/association with member organizations, please include a membership list. (We will respect your privacy!) We will ensure that all of your members are in the e-directory, including any non-co-op organizations which may form part of your membership.  Federations, national, provincial or large regional co-ops: Please contact the Membership Manager before submitting your application as your dues calculations may be different from what is posted.
  • Include a list of (or link to) all of your Ontario branches, satellite offices or other locations.  As mentioned above, be sure to include a list of all of your member organizations, and any wholly-owned subsidiaries that have a presence in Ontario. We will ensure that all get added to the e-directory.
  • Email a copy of your logo in TIF, EPS, JPG, GIF or PNG format. On Co-op will use this to promote your organization.
  • Enclose your cheque or indicate you would like to be invoiced. Dues are not payable by credit card. Membership is due annually. (Members and Supporters who join mid-year may elect to prorate their dues upon request. If you choose not to prorate your dues, we would apply 100% of the amount to the current fiscal year regardless of the date in which your membership application was accepted by the Board.)
To determine the pro-rated amount to remit, divide the amount of your dues by 12 and then multiply by the number of months starting with this month and ending at March 31. For example: If today is August 12, and your dues are $675 annually: 622/12 = 56.25. Number of months until March 31 = 8.   8 x 56.25 = $450.00. You would remit $450.00 as your dues for this fiscal year.)

After you have completed these steps, the On Co-op Board of Directors will review your application at its next board meeting and your membership status will be confirmed by the Membership Manager after the board has made its decision. Member login passwords and other information will be given to you at that time.

  • Please mention your membership in On Co-op in your materials and on your website, including a link to our site www.ontario.coop. A basic summary of the Association and a high-resolution version of our logo is on the 'Contact Us' page of our website, and can also be provided to you upon request. (Do NOT cut and paste the On Co-op logo from individual webpages. It is a low-resolution version not suitable for PowerPoint or print use.)
  • Beginning in 2011, On Co-op has a membership sticker that can be applied to your main office door or window, and a certificate of membership that can be displayed in your office.
