Hometown Grocers Co-op

The Independent Hometown Grocers Co-op was created after nine franchise owners of a large Canadian supermarket chain decided to go independent in an effort to sell local food. The stores have retained a wholesale relationship with Sobeys for such items as dog food, spices and breakfast cereals, but are now selling provincially-inspected meat supplied by area farmers. The stores are located in southwestern Ontario communities such as Elora, Arthur, Chesley, Durham, Lucknow and Palmerston.
