Annual General Meeting

OCA's Annual General Meeting provides our membership with an opportunity to practice their democratic rights, have a voice, participate in learning and professional development opportunities and network with other co-operative organizations within our membership.

This year's AGM was held virtually on September 20, 2023. Board Chair Jordan Moat presented his Chair's Report and shared some of the highlights of the past year. Jennifer Ross then shared the Executive Director's Report, and about some of the current initiatives and focus of the organization (view the Annual Report below to see their reports). During the election, Reba Plummer, representing the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation, and Kelli Phillips, representing Hay Communications Co-operative, were acclaimed as Director-at-Large for three-year terms each, as there were no nominations received by the deadline or from the floor. There is still a vacancy for the Youth Director seat on the board.

After the meeting adjourned, we held a facilitated a discussion with the membership to receive input on: What areas of programming OCA should be focusing their resources on, what other areas of focus, benefits or services would bring value to them and their organization, and what are some common goals that OCA and its members should be working towards. If you have thoughts or feedback on any of these areas, feel free to email or call us!

Following the discussion, we held the Co-operative Spirit Award Ceremony to recognize three amazing individuals and their contributions to the Ontario co-operative sector - view the media release to learn more about them!
